FBM KLCI - at new high

Stocks on Bursa Malaysia closed mixed yesterday with the FBM KLCI closed at a new high of 1,674.67, up 2.11 points or 0.13% from Monday's close after opening 1.74 points lower at 1,670.82, amid strong buying in key finance and plantation counters. FBM KLCI - higher amid heavy profit-taking

Stocks on Bursa Malaysia ended on a mixed note yesterday as regional markets fell as investors switch their focus away from signs of stable US growth, looking instead at tepid global corporate earnings and the uncertain economic outlooks. The FBM KLCI, however,  closed at an all-time high of 1,672.56, up 0.67 point, after opening 6.41 points higher at 1,678.30 on late buying support in key heavyweights. FBM KLCI - likely to chart new high


Stocks on Bursa Malaysia ended firmer last Thursday with the FBM KLCI closing at an all-time high, lifted by persistent buying in selective blue-chips in telecommunications, banking and construction stocks. The local bourse was higher in line with regional peers, despite negative leads from the US after the Federal Open Market Committee did not say anything new after its meeting on Wednesday. The benchmark index rose 3.9 points or 0.23% to 1,671.89 after opening 0.53 of a point higher at 1,668.52, and on a weekly basis, it gained 5.54 points from 1,666.35. Its previous all-time high was at 1,670.16 recorded Friday the previous week. Gainers led losers by 391 to 306, with 327 counters unchanged. Volume rose to 1.44 billion shares valued at RM1.28 billion from 1.13 billion shares worth RM1.46 billion on Wednesday. Weekly turnover declined to 4.859 billion shares valued at RM5.562 billion from 5.956 billion shares worth RM7.976 billion last Friday. FBM KLCI - higher on continued buying support

Stocks on Bursa Malaysia closed higher yesterday on the back of selective buying of blue-chip counters ahead of the Hari Raya Haji holiday tomorrow. The local bourse ignored Wall Street’s weak overnight close which was affected by poor corporate earnings and concerns about Spain’s economy. The exchange performed broadly in line with some regional peers as the China purchasing managers’ index advanced to 49.1 points in October from 47.9 points in September. The FBM KLCI was 3.09 points or 0.19% higher at 1,667.99, a fresh record high, after opening 1.43 points lower at 1,663.47, and hovered between 1,661.03 and 1,670.09 throughout the day. FBM KLCI - higher on technical rebound

Stocks on Bursa Malaysia closed mixed yesterday in the absence of participation and ahead of the two-day US Federal Reserve monetary policy meeting starting yesterday. Bursa Malaysia was also in line with key regional markets which ended mixed after Wall Street overnight traded between flat and marginally up at close. FBM KLCI - likely to extend uptrend


Stocks on Bursa Malaysia ended on a mixed note last Friday with the FBM KLCI registering an all-time intra-day high of 1,670.16 points, largely driven by the rise in banking stocks led by Public Bank which announced its financial results on Thursday, and also telecommunication stocks. FBM KLCI - closing at fresh record high

FBM KLCI - likely to further consolidate


Stocks on Bursa Malaysia ended mixed last Friday, on mild profit-taking activities in the absence of stronger supportive buying interest. Interest was seen in plantation stock pick-up after the government announced changes to the palm oil policy to better reflect movements in international prices. Malaysia will cut crude palm oil export taxes and discontinue a tax-free shipment quota for the grade from Jan 1 next year.
