FBM KLCI - higher on follow through buying


Stocks on Bursa Malaysia closed higher yesterday in tandem with the advances in Asian markets driven by expectations of more measures by policymakers in China to boost flagging growth in the world’s second largest economy. The FBM KLCI gained 8.54 points or 0.53% to 1,627.84 after opening 1.8 points higher at 1,621.10, fueled by buying in selected heavyweights. Gainers led losers by 363 to 303, with 322 counters unchanged. FBM KLCI - marginally higher


Stocks on Bursa Malaysia closed mostly lower yesterday in tandem with losses on regional markets burdened by concerns over the Euro-zone debt crisis, as well as doubts that stimulus initiatives by policymakers worldwide was enough to spur growth, and investor sentiment on global markets was also dampened by the weak business confidence in Germany. The FBM KLCI, however, gained 0.72 of a point to 1,619.30 after touching an intra-day low of 1,612.78, driven by recovery in share prices of selected heavyweights. Decliners beat gainers by 374 to 283 with 342 counters unchanged. FBM KLCI - a technical rebound

Stocks on Bursa Malaysia closed mostly higher yesterday, driven by gains in selected heavyweights as the market recouped some of its earlier losses. Despite the lingering European debt crisis, stimulus initiatives undertaken by central banks of major economies gave hope for a market rebound in global markets. The FBM KLCI closed 6.20 points or 0.38% higher at 1,618.58 after hitting an intra-day low of 1,603.09. Gainers beat losers by 331 to 329 while 342 counters were unchanged. FBM KLCI - the bear has surfaced

Stocks on Bursa Malaysia closed lower yesterday in line with weaknesses on regional markets plagued by fears of slowing global economic growth and amid the ongoing euro zone debt crisis. Investors were also adopting a cautious “wait-and-see” attitude ahead of the tabling of next year’s budget on Friday. FBM KLCI - likely to be range-bound with a bearish bias




Stocks on Bursa Malaysia ended last Friday slightly lower on uncertain global economic sentiment, despite positive regional markets. The FBM KLCI ended 1.89 points or 0.12% lower at 1,623.7 after hovering between 1,619.08 and 1,633.65, while on a weekly basis, the benchmark index  lost 19.25 points from 1,642.95. FBM KLCI - down on heavy profit-taking


Stocks on Bursa Malaysia ended yesterday on an easier note on profit-taking activities after the recent market rally, moving in line with the weaker regional sentiment as Asian bourses were affected by the weak China purchasing managers’ index (PMI) number released yesterday. The FBM KLCI ended 20.52 points or 1.25% lower at 1,625.59 after hovering between 1,620.68 and 1,640.29. Losers led gainers by more than double at 551 to 184 while 312 counters were unchanged. FBM KLCI - lower on profit-taking

Stocks on Bursa Malaysia closed lower yesterday due to lack of internal and external catalysts to spur demand for local stocks, as the recent third quantitative easing programme announced last week by the Federal Reserve to boost the US economy has given only minimal impact to the local bourse. The local market saw mild trading, as investors are still awaiting Budget 2013 plans to be announced on the 28th September. The FBM KLCI ended 2.62 points or 0.16% lower to 1,640.33 after opening 3.94 points higher at 1,646.89, and it hovered between 1,640.33 and 1,651.66 levels.
